Northern Lights Designer Handbags: By Colleen Hays with YarnWars
The Northern Lights Designer Handbags pattern is one I introduced not long ago. The list is endless as to the types and sizes of bags you can make with this pattern; handbag, beachbag, a clutch or even a cell phone case! The pattern is easy to size, quick to work up and oh so fun & colorful!
You can use one of the many cakes, Bernat Pops, Sweetrolls, Caron Cakes, or even just a fun colorful worsted weight of any brand.
I had to make this one of the Mother’s Day Picks! It’s functional, trendy, and will work for virtually
any occasion!
Amara Shawl – By Tamara Kelly with Moogly Blog
Elegant, lightweight, pineapple, sparkly fun! That’s what I think of when I look at this beautiful Amara Shawl pattern by Moogly.
Tamara Kelly, the pattern designer talks about how this pattern came about, last minute when she needed something to
wear on stage as she co-hostessed the Knit and Crochet Fashion Show.
Mom definitely deserves an evening out and with this fashion forward shawl, she will turn many heads! Thanks for this
lovely, free pattern Tamara!

Basket of Sheets Crochet Pattern: By Kit’s Crafts
The nice thing about baskets is they are unique, pretty simple to work up, and many times quick to make!
I had to post this pattern, because of how unique and simple it is!
I just happened to run into this awesome website, Kit’s Crafts and boy was I happy to find this adorable basket
pattern to add to my Mother’s Day Picks!
I’ve seen similar baskets made with hemp or some other rope, so there is more than one way to work up a basket in this
fashion, but the bed sheets, brilliant! Everyone has them!
This pattern is more of a visual, definitely don’t let that scare you away! The photos show how you can quickly,
easily crochet a recycled basket with bed sheets & yarn in whatever size you like! Thanks for this fun free pattern
Kristin!
Portuguese Knitting Dishcloth: Staci Perry with Very Pink
One of my very first knitting projects was, as it is for many, the dishcloth. The first dishcloth pattern I ran into was from a YouTube video by Staci Perry of Very Pink called Portuguese Knitting Dishcloth. To this day, this is my go to dish or wash cloth because it is so simple, it is pretty, and it just resumes it’s form very nicely after a wash. This pattern has been around quite a while and was not actually designed by Very Pink, the designer is unknown but Staci offers a great write up along with video tutorial for this pattern.
This is a very quick project and you could make a colorful set that mom would really appreciate. You can never have too many dishcloths! I know in my house, they move quickly from kitchen to laundry room! Thanks for this great instructional Staci!
Little Hearts: By Susan B. Anderson with Barrett Wool Co.
One fun idea, if you have a small rustic basket, or any nice small basket, you can work up a handful of these adorable little hearts and create a nice centerpiece for mom.
Not only will this gift look like you put a lot of time into it, but it literally is a gift full of heart 😉 We can thank Susan B Anderson with Barrett Wool Co for this perfect little heart design.
The Knotty Knitted Necklace: By Aromy Xayasouk
The Knotty Knitted Necklace by Aromy Xayasouk is a wonderful, versatile accessory that mom can wear with casual or dress wear! The necklace can be worked up in any color and a great last minute project. Your mother will love it!
Thanks for this cute pattern Aromy!
Work up a few of these fabulous coasters for charming table protectors for the home. You can work them up in a variety of colors, it’s a quick & easy project with a very functional purpose.. How could mom not appreciate this gift =)
Thanks to Brome Fields Knit Wear for this great free pattern!
This concludes the YarnWars Mother’s Day Picks, there are so many great patterns out there as you already know, these are just a few that caught my eye… I had to share with you.
I hope this helps you with that perfect, (last minute) gift for mom. She deserves the best and there will never be a gift more special than one that comes from your hands and your heart!
Happy early Mother’s Day to all of my wonderful yarn crafting friends.
I hope that your Sunday is filled with family, love & even a little peace and quiet… you know, so you can go hide and stitch! =D
